This past summer, Hayley Williams perplexed fans as she put up seventeen new songs on her hair dye website, Good Dye Young, but then the songs were consequently removed quickly after. Only a few days later, the songs were released on streaming as seventeen separate singles.
On November 7th, Williams officially released the collection of songs as an official album and subsequently named it “Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party.” Williams’ new album capitalizes on the sounds she’s cultivated in the music industry for over two decades and is her third solo album, with her last in 2021. In this new release, Williams added new songs, including “Parachute” and more.
In “Blood Bros,” Williams’ lyricism elicits strong feelings of questioning the transformation of a relationship that has ended. Over a simple melodic guitar riff, she asks, “Was it ever enough?” ending the song with the lyric “I will love you forever / If that won’t make it worse.” Williams dwells on a heartbreak and how to navigate changing tides that come along with separation.
This May, Williams takes over the historic Fox Theater in Oakland for three nights. When announced, Williams was originally set to play two nights, Thursday, May 7th, and Saturday, May 9th. However, due to popular demand, an additional show on Sunday, May 10th, was added. If you’re ready to sing and cry your heart out this May (I know I am), consider signing up for presale here which will begin this Friday, November 14th.
