Demi Lovato last toured in 2022, for her album “Holy Fvck.” Now, four years later, she returns with the release of her new album, “It’s Not That Deep.” Her ninth studio album delves into feelings of anxiety, loss, and grief but also explores deeper into the genre of electronic dance, allowing for an exciting listening experience.

Leaning into the genre of dance pop, she diverges from her last album, “Holy Fvck,” which leaned more into the rock and punk genres. The new album features singles like “Fast” with production that blends elements of dance pop and EDM. Her second single, “Here All Night,” is composed of upbeat, belty vocals over fast synths.

Produced by Zhone, an American producer who is known for his work with Troye Sivan, Charli XCX, and more, it helped to define Lovato’s sound in this album. Now, firmly in the electronic dance genre, Lovato, as Rolling Stone describes it, “just wants to have fun again.”

“It’s Not That Deep” provides fans with a danceable soundtrack they can bop their night away to.
