Rocking in the New Year, High on Fire Takes Over the Great American Music Hall

High on Fire is set to headline a two-night event to reel in the new year. Founded in Oakland in 1998, High on Fire is described as a blend of heavy metal, stoner metal, and sludge metal. Frontman Matt Pike explains High on Fire’s sound as “music for those drawn to the extreme, the feral, the mythic.” Known for songs like “Snakes for the Divine” and “Fury Whip,” High on Fire excels in this genre, even earning a GRAMMY® in 2019 for Best Metal Performance.

Released in 2024, High on Fire’s ninth studio album, “Cometh the Storm,” is admired by fans for Pike’s gritty vocals and guitar skills. High on Fire leans into the sounds often synonymous with heavy metal emotive vocals and high-energy instrumentals. As High on Fire continues to push the envelope beyond creative bounds and shows no signs of slowing, fans are guaranteed to have an unforgettable night.

With supporting acts from multiple bands, Great American Music Hall is sure to be set on fire this new year. Acts include Secret Chiefs 3, an experimental rock group founded by Trey Spruance in San Francisco. In addition, TAKAAT, an African rock band inspired by the sounds of 2000s post-punk, and finally ÖLÜM, an Anatolian rock band based in Los Angeles, CA, inspired by Anatolian psychedelic rock of the 60s. With all these acts have to offer, there is nowhere better to be in San Francisco this New Year’s Eve.
