The highly anticipated soundtrack for Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest, a collaboration between A24 and Apple Original Films, is set to debut on August 15, aligning with the film’s theatrical release. The first offering from the album is a track of the same name, performed by powerhouse singer, songwriter and producer Aiyana-Lee, who also makes her acting debut in the film.

The project is a modern reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa’s classic High and Low, brought into present-day New York. Directed by Spike Lee and starring Denzel Washington as a legendary music executive with a reputation for having the “best ears in the business,” the story unfolds around a high-stakes blackmail plot. The film marks the fifth collaboration between Lee and Washington, continuing a powerful creative legacy.

The soundtrack, curated by Spike Lee, is a celebration of Black artistry across musical styles, with contributions from A$AP Rocky, Jensen McRae and the Fergus McCreadie Trio. It captures the emotional depth and genre-blending of the film.

Speaking about her moving track, Aiyana-Lee shared: “‘Highest to Lowest’ is a soulful, triumphant journey. One rooted in vulnerability and hope. It’s a song and story close to my heart that proves even in the darkest moments, light always finds its way through.”

Spike Lee added, “I First Saw And Heard Aiyanna, Jensen And The Fergus McCreadie Trio On INSTAGRAM. My EYES And EARS Don’t LIE. It’s Da TRUTH, RUTH. Ya-Dig? SHO-NUFF.”

The full soundtrack, produced by Spike Lee and featuring original scoring by Howard Drossin, blends live jazz, R&B, cinematic arrangements and rap. It serves as an extension of the film’s message and Lee’s vision.
