Global Citizen NYC announced their 2025 festival lineup this Tuesday morning. The festival, which will take place this September, has a lineup featuring The Weeknd, Shakira, Tyla, Ayra Star and Mariah the Scientist. The show will be hosted by Hugh Jackson.

Global Citizen is a political organization which aims to fight against poverty and the climate crisis. Originally founded as the Global Poverty Project in 2008 by Hugh Evans, Simon Moss, and Wei Soo, Global Citizen was co-founded as a platform with Michael Sheldrick and Ryan Gall in 2012. Throughout the years, this group has gained several offices, including in their headquarters in New York, and offices in Canada, South Africa, Nigeria, Australia, Germany and the UK. According to brooklynvegan.com, the organization’s current goals revolve around children’s education, land preservation in the Amazon and energy access for citizens in Africa.

This music festival, which takes place every year, features several highly regarded celebrities such as The Weeknd and Shakira, many of whom are currently on tour. Successful singer-songwriter The Weeknd is currently on his After Hours til Dawn Stadium Tour with special guest Mike Dean. His tour will conclude early September in San Antonio. Shakira is also on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, taking place in both North and South America and stretching into early December. Although Tyla and Mariah the Scientist are not scheduled for any long term tours, Ayra Star will be joining the Coldplay Music Of The Spheres World Tour until late August.

The annual festival will take place on September 27th in Central Park at the Great Lawn. General admission tickets and other ticketing options are now available here at globalcitizen.org. While audiences are able to purchase tickets to act as donations, Global Citizens also aims for people to take direct action towards their goals. To earn free tickets, attendees must take action on specific global issue. Those interested in potentially earning free tickets to this event can follow the steps here.
