Italian metal band Deathless Legacy was formed in 2006, known for their wild and insightful music. The last record Deathless Legacy dropped was Mater Larvarum, and now, the band has released Damnatio Aeterna. This is amazing because each track shows how much the band has grown with their music.
Kicking things off is the title track. Although this track is over five minutes long, from start to finish, it is compelling because the melodic chanting welcomes the listeners to Deathless Legacy’s wild world before the music takes over with an enchanting sound. The lead vocalist is wonderful because each vocal tone contributes to the beautiful harmony.
“Get On Your Knees” is a somewhat different ditty, thanks to the bass and lead guitar shaking the background with great power while the fabulous piano playing serenades the air with an elegant noise. The tune has a heavy blues and metal vibe that brings the feeling of uncertainty and hopelessness as the vocalist wails out the beautiful lyrics. “Get On Your Knees” is dark and beautiful at the same time.
“Oblivion” is another excellent composition that has beautiful piano playing but the best part is hearing the vocalist singing her heart out on high notes. While listening, the vocalist’s powerful and honest performance gives this number a solid kick of endless madness and charm found within the music.”Oblivion” is filled with non-stop human emotions that people can relate to. The vocalist does a great job of showing how powerful music can be when using your vocals.
“Sanctified” is a unique tune that the band plays at a lower musical tempo. Right at the start, the lead guitar riffs can be heard humming in the background as the vocalist sings her heart out. The combination of bass guitar and keyboard playing is a solid example of how classy music can exist in metal music.
Closing Damnatio Aeterna is the mystical “Gehenna.” What is stunning about the number is how prog-rock takes over as the main musical style. At the very start, the sound of epic keyboard playing sizzles the air with great power, and throughout the whole thing, the guitar and keyboard playing adds an extra layer of vibing creativity that matches the prog-rock style.
Overall, Damnatio Aeterna is an album that proves how epic music can be when you have the right elements of creativity. Deathless Legacy has matured on this record, and surely, the band will be dazzling minds when performing the songs live.
