On January 14th, Film Forum will host a screening for Kelly Reichardt’s ‘Old Joy’. The film is about two friends in their 30’s, on different journeys, embarking on a camping trip in the mountains. The film takes place in Oregon, and is occurring post-9/11 America. The tale of friendship and alienation is complemented with original music from Yo La Tengo. Along with the screening, the Old Joy soundtrack will be available on vinyl for the first time, at Film Forum on the 14th. Old Joy originally premiered at Film Forum on September 20th, of 2006. The 2006 screening was originally programmed by Karen Cooper and Mike Maggiore. This event will be co-presented by BOMB magazine, a nonprofit, independent publishing house, and Mississippi Records. It will be introduced by Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley of Yo La Tengo. The Janus Films’ film ran for 76 minutes back in 2006. The event is set to take place at 7:15 on Tuesday, January 14th at Film Forum in Manhattan. Tickets to Old Joy are still available through Film Forum, and are selling for $17 USD. for a regular ticket, and $11 USD. for members.
