Album Review: Full of Hell + Andrew Nolan – Scraping The Divine

Scraping The Divine bleeds mind-dazzling talent.

Last year, metal band Full of Hell and industrial singer Andrew Nolan announced they would release a collaborative album called Scraping The Divine. The album has been released, and each track is fantastic because the music brings a solid kick of mind-bending industrial and metal noise that compliments the lingering insanity of Scraping The Divine.

Soul-shaking “Heat Death From the Pyre” brings many musical flavors thanks to the drum playing smacking the background with deep and thunderous beats, while the guitar playing sizzles the atmosphere with electrifying riffs that complement the madness that lives in Full of Hell’s and Nolan’s dark world.

“Hemlock Gnosis” is another heart-pounding ditty, and what shines in this composition is Nolan’s emotional vocal performance. Right off the bat, solid vocal shrieks can be heard raging in the background with strong and pure human emotion that brings the feeling of hopelessness and despair to “Hemlock Gnosis.”

“Facing The Divide” is a bit different from the previous tunes due to how the musical tempo is slower and the instrumentation provides more of a experimental vibe. While listening, the static sound of the guitars brings a creepy and vibing style, while the drum playing continues to rage havoc with non-stop hammering beats that blend in with Nolan’s screaming voice.

“Common Miracles” is a stunning composition that shows how dominant Full of Hell and Nolan are with their music. But what really shines on this ditty is hearing the instrumentation, creating a doomful style that brings a feeling of fear, while Nolan creepily growls and shouts out the lyrics in his demanding voice.

Ending Scraping The Divine is “Paralytic Lineage,” and what is truly amazing about the number is hearing the sound of a piano smacking the background with deep melodies. The rest of the instrumentation continues to bring the metal vibe before the industrial tempo takes over with great authority on “Paralytic Lineage.”

Full of Hell and Andrew Nolan are forces to be reckoned with on Scraping The Divine, and for those who enjoy blistering music, this album will satisfy the need for high-volume tunes from the speakers.
