Album Review: 1349 – The Wolf and The King

This band brings heart-pounding madness to The Wolf and The King.

Heavy metal band 1349 has been raging hell since 1997, known for their wild and sizzling black metal. Earlier this month, 1349 released their album, The Wolf and The King. As a whole, 1349’s instrumentation and vocal performance on each track are fabulous. The musical style is a strong kick of classic metal music. The Wolf and The King shows how powerful 1349 is as a band.

Kicking things off is “The God Devour. ” While listening, the guitar playing steals the show, with each riff generating a big mix of heavy black metal. The absolute best part is hearing the vocal performance growl out the lyrics passionately. The vocal performance and guitar playing bring the elements of hardcore black metal to “The God Devour.”

Another wonderful ditty is “Inferior Pathways. ” The greatest part of the whole composition is how the band plays a faster musical tempo. Each drum beat and guitar riff creates a fast-paced musical vibe that will cause some listeners to head-bang while the music is blaring from their speakers. The rapid musical tempo on “Inferior Pathways” just shows how 1349 is not afraid to blast listeners’ minds with its musical skills.

“The Vessel and The Storm” is another vein-jolting ditty, but the vocal performance really shines because each vocal pitch contributes to the endless insanity. Throughout the whole thing, the vocalist does a great job using his demanding voice to speak out the lyrics with pure emotion and deep growls while the rest of the band keeps shaking the background with amazing noises on “The Vessel and The Storm.”

Ending The Wolf and The King is “Fatalist. ” What captures the creativity of this composition is hearing the band blend black metal with doom. The killer and sizzling instrumentation convey lingering danger, while the vocal performance growls out the lingering emotions of hatred. “Fatalist is an example of how 1349 can deliver impactful music based on pure human emotions.

The Wolf and The King is a mind-dazzler, and 1349 is clearly hungry to show people what they are capable of musically. People who enjoy listening to black metal will not be upset with this album because it offers the classic metal sound but a hardcore twist.
