Katie Gavin, known for being the front singer for the indie-pop band MUNA, sets out on her first solo tour in celebration of her debut album, What A Relief. She will close her tour with a performance in her hometown of Chicago at Thalia Hall on Dec. 18. She will be joined on stage by opener Nana Adjoa.
Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Katie Gavin has always been musically inclined. She began singing and performing at a young age but did not pursue music seriously until she got to college and met MUNA bandmates Naomi Mcpherson and Josette Maskin in 2013. The band released “Winterbreak” their first single in 2016.
In 2017, MUNA released their first studio album, About U, which put them on the map. However, it was not until 2022 that the band got major attention. During that year they released their third studio album, self-titled, MUNA featuring their song “Silk Chiffon” with Phoebe Bridgers.
Although MUNA and Katie Gavin are relatively new to the music scene, they have made an impact. MUNA has released three albums and 37 singles. Throughout her new-found solo career, Gavin has released three singles and her album What A Relief which was released this past October.
