Renowned musician, violinist, and vocalist Andrew Bird will perform at Chicago’s Fourth Presbyterian Church for an eight-night event with his first show beginning on Dec. 5 and his last on Dec. 13. He will also perform at Ravinia on Dec. 7 with Martin Theatre.
Bird has released two albums, Cunningham Bird and Sunday Morning Put-On, in the past year. Sunday Morning Put-On was released in May 2024 and is accompanied by Alan Hampton and Ted Poor. Cunningham Bird, on the other hand, was released just ten days ago and is in collaboration with Madison Cunningham.
Andrew Bird is a Chicago native. He spent his childhood growing up in Lake Forest, Illinois and eventually attended Northwestern University, where he graduated with a degree in Violin performance. He took what he had learned and, in the same year as his college graduation, released his first solo album, Music Of Hair (1992).
He continued to release meaningful and impactful music accompanied by his illustrious violin. His second album, Ballad of the Red Shoes, came in 2001. Since that year, he has released an album a year and sometimes two.
He has released a total of 29 albums including deluxe editions and live albums, as well as 25 singles. His 2013 album I Want to See Pulaski at Night, a romanticization of Chicago, and an album that was filled with his vocals humming to the tune of the violin, gained him much more commercial recognition.
Andrew Bird is set to perform in Chicago at Fourth Presbyterian Chruch on Dec. 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 and a performance at the Ravinia with Martin Theatre on Dec. 7. Tickets can be purchased for all events through AXS AXS.com.
