L.S. Dunes is gearing up for an explosive start to 2025 with the announcement of their sophomore album, Violet, due for release in January. Alongside the news, the band has dropped their latest single and music video, “Machines.” Violet follows their 2022 album Past Lives and promises to delve deeper into the band’s color. The band had also shared the single “Fatal Deluxe” off their new album in September.

“Machines” brings an industrial edge to L.S Dunes’ already ferocious sound, blending post-hardcore intensity with pulsating synths and raw, emotional vocals. The song dives into themes of emotional complexity and the struggle to maintain control amidst the chaos. It’s a rallying cry to break free from routine and reclaim individuality, with the lyrics “Tonight it can be anything you want” being repeated throughout.

Directed by Vivianne Navarette, the “Machines” music video taps into the nostalgic charm of a 90s talk show, transporting viewers to a surreal, retro-inspired world. The band takes the stage in a brightly lit studio, surrounded by an audience that seems almost disinterested at first. As the song progresses, the infectious beat and hypnotic melody begin to stir something within the audience. One by one, the once-bored crowd members rise to their feet, shedding their apathy as they start to dance along to the music.

Guitarist Travis Stever describes their upcoming album, Violet, as a “sonic journey into the depths of every band member”. Expanding on his thought, Stever says, “It’s the album that has always lived in us individually but could only be made together.” The title Violet emerged organically during the recording process, soon becoming a symbol of the album’s central focus.

Anthony Green, lead singer of the band, states that this new album marks a shift towards hope and empowerment. He contrasts it with themes in Past Lives, which he admits could be emotionally draining to perform. “This time, I wanted to make a record that says there is magic in the world,” Green explains. “I wanted to celebrate music and its transformative power.”
