Album Review: Many Eyes – The Light Age

This album brings soul-shaking music.

Many Eyes, dynamically formed in 2022 by Keith Buckley, previously of Every Time I Die and The Damned Things, Nick Bellmore, producer and owner of Dexter’s Lab Recording, and Charlie Bellmore of Corpsegrinder and Toxic Holocaust. The band recently released The Light Age, an album filled with wild forms of metal music and a killer vocal performance. The current touring line-up of the band has changed as it now is comprised of Keith Buckley, Nick Bellmore, Sean Vallie and Craig Vittorio.

Kicking this off is “Revelation.” What is great about this ditty is how the whole thing has a heavy mix of rock and metal music. While listening, the guitar and drum playing smacks the background with top-notch musical madness, while the vocalist yells and screams out the lyrics with pure human passion. “Revelation” starts The Light Age with a soul-shaking dose of quality music that can cause some people to head-bang as the chords leave their speakers.

“Third” is a bit different from the previous tune in that the music is more harmonic and toned down. Each guitar riff and beat sizzles the atmosphere with a slow-paced musical vibe before quickly switching to a higher and deeper energy that resembles the seriousness of the lyrics. Another great part is hearing the vocalist calmly singing out the words before screaming his head off on “Third.”

Another great number is “Servant.” What is amazing about the song is how the instrumentation brings a strong sense of classic metal before switching to hard rock. Right at the beginning, a heavy and thrash metal vibe can be felt through the jolting guitar and drums, before the band switches to a hard rock sound that brings compelling melodic elements and harmonies that reflect the seriousness of the song.

Ending The Light Age is “The Rainbow.” A captivating tune with dark and intimate instrumentation, thanks to the lovely piano, that incorporates a strong sense of wonder. The guitar and keyboard contribute to the high emotions, before the band switches to their vibrant hard rock style. “The Rainbow” clearly shows how creative Many Eyes are when it comes to making compelling music.

Many Eyes show how hungry they are to create metal music on The Light Age and surely some people will find themselves within the sharp music and relatable lyrics.
