Album Review: Savanna Leigh – Reminders of You

Savanna Leigh’s freshest EP, Reminders of You, is nothing short of a singer/songwriter paragon. With 6 tracks written and composed by Savanna, each piece brings its own elements of authenticity and raw emotion.

Growing up in Florida, Leigh has been surrounded by music her entire life, writing her very first song at the ripe age of 12. Originally being a country-pop duo with her sister, Savanna eventually went solo before moving to Nashville.

The track “Let Myself Cry” speaks for itself with the title. The idea that holding back any emotions inside to withhold from crying, that running from these feelings, is easier than facing them. Savanna being rather vulnerable with this track allows for the assumption that it would resonate with many listeners.

“Mason Street” begins with a soothing acoustic guitar intro, joined by Leigh’s vocals, where she shares memories of an old home on Mason. She expresses the slowed-down life she once romanticized, that now seems so far out of reach. The way Savanna is able to delve into her past and turn her memories into these beautiful, lyrical pieces of art is amazing.

With more of an upbeat melody, in contrast to others on the EP, “Favorite Parts of Me” is the sixth and final track. With rich imaginary and powerful vocals doing the storytelling, listeners are able to capture the complexity of the emotion while feeling both comfortable and contemplative.
