King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northely Island on Sept. 1

Australian rock band, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will perform in Chicago on Sept.1 at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island. Geese will also take the stage as a special guest and opener.

The band was formed in 2010 by Stu Mackenzie Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Cook Craig, Joey Walker, Lucas Harwood, Michael Cavanagh, and Eric Moore.

All of the members went to school and grew up together in the Deniliquin, Melbourne, and Geelong areas of Australia.  Mackenzie, Moore, and Walker studied at RMIT University. All the band members are still active, except for Eric Moore.

Since the band’s formation in 2010, they have released 29 albums, 6 singles, and 2 EPs. In 2017 the band promised that they would release five albums in one year and that they did.

They most recently dropped an album in 2024 entitled, Flight b741. They released three singles alongside the record.

The band is known for their psychedelic and garage rock sound. Their most recent album has a 70s quality that emanates a funkadelic element to their music, especially in their first single that was released for the album “Le Risque”.
