Neil Young and Crazy Horse have released a country rock album Early Daze that is classic, exciting and will keep listeners wanting more.
The second track on Early Daze gives the feel that it was recorded at a kickback or a live performance at a bar. They create an element of collectivism and spontaneity even though they said “This is take 14” in the intro. Leading into a deeper guitar on “Winterlong,” the third track is exciting and a true rock number. The chord progressions hold memories that match well with the meaning of the song.
The fourth track on the album “Everybody’s Alone,” starts with a tangy and spotty guitar medley. This song is melancholy and relatively consistent, until the close-out with a radiating guitar solo.
“Cinnamon Girl” is a relatively silly song, as there is no explanation of what a cinnamon girl actually is. She is subtly portrayed as someone adventurous in the nighttime after a show. It is up to anyone to imagine what their kind of dream girl would be like to be categorized as a cinnamon girl.
“Helpless” is a very stripped-down song, even though there is a standard production, the vocals are so intimate that it strips the song down. You can hear the heart-wrenching emotions pouring through “Helpless, helpless, helpless.”
The final track called “Down By The River” has a major build throughout the song. The harmonies on this track stand out in a very soothing way. There is a three-minute guitar solo right in the middle of this nine-minute song, that shows off the skills and creativity of the band.
Throughout the album, they decided to keep some of the talking at the beginning of the tracks while in the studio as their personal touch, making the listeners feel more in tune with the album. This album is playful in a way that listeners can tell they were having a good wholesome time throughout the recording process.
