Album Review: Bring Me The Horizon – POST HUMAN: NeX GEn

Bring Me The Horizon are known for their soul shaking music and last month, the band surprised their fans with the release of POST HUMAN: NeX GEn, where each track is filled with face smacking instrumentation and a mind dazzling vocal performance. POST HUMAN: NeX GEn just shows how much Bring Me The Horizon is not afraid to show their creative side instrumentally, vocally and lyrically.

“YOUtopia” is the second piece on the album and the best part is hearing the lead guitar sizzle the kinetic atmosphere with sharp notes. While listening, the lead guitar brings a heavy mix of hard rock and grunge that blends in with a relatable theme. “YOUtopia” deserves to be blaring from the speakers thanks to the talented lead guitarist.

“DArkSide” is a harmonic and melodic composition that features a heartfelt vocal performance. While listening, the feelings of loss and despair can be felt through Oli Sykes’s demanding voice. The singer’s emotional plea to escape the “DArkSide” can be heard through his high-pitched yelling and screaming.

“n/A’’ is a slower tune that displays the softer side of Bring Me The Horizon. At first, the soft sounds of the acoustic guitar and drums brings a bluesy vibe before the whole band blasts the ears with sizzling hard rock that consists of angelic voices blending in with the lingering chaos. The whole thing is mind blowing, the band is able to surprise their listeners with different styles of music on “n/A.”

“DIE4u” is a face smacking ballad on POST HUMAN: NeX GEn. What is fantastic about the ditty is hearing Sykes vocally pour out his heart for a person he cares about. With each scream, the vocalist shows a romantic side that blends in with the harmonic rock vibe. “DIE4u” is simply beautiful, with Sykes showcasing his honest, heartfelt lyricism that connects with both fans and critics on a deeper level.

Bring Me The Horizon is full of musical surprises on POST HUMAN: NeX GEn and their fans will not be disappointed with this album. The new record is only further proof that the band has grown throughout the years, bringing a new level of emotional and sonic maturity that highlights their prominent space in heavy music.
