Album Review: Secrecies – Perfect Bite

Secrecie’s Perfect Bite is a rather delectable addition to their album collection. Listeners are able to hear a unique yet mesmerizing blend of vibrant electronic sounds and captivating lyricism all in one.

With this albums release in 2024, we see Secrecies continuously pushing the music world’s boundaries. Getting into some of the tracks on the album, giving you a taste of their dreamy and euphoric synth-pop creations, we have twelve tracks that are meticulously curated to belong together.

The album starts off with the track “Cathedrals,” which defines one bite not being enough. The moment you hear the intro, there will be no choice but to listen to the whole album. Immediately drawn into Secrecies atmospheric world, listeners are treated to the lyrical imagery. The painting, a picture of cathedrals, acts as the connection between the powerful and the sacred. Like many of life’s moments and relationships, the emotion evoked by the cathedral relates to how profound life experiences can be, giving that same awestruck feeling.

Exploring the themes of identity, appearances and the fleeting nature of trends, is the track “Fashion Week.” Musically, vibrant and dynamic beats match the ambiance of a fashion show. The lyrics provide a deeper meaning than just a runway. More specifically, through the lyrics, “Slipping into an existence / that doesn’t belong to me,” we can imagine the parallel between appearance and inner authenticity. This track evokes the tangibly exciting energy fashion week brings through a palpable rhythm and is an upbeat addition to the album.

In contrast to other tracks on the album, we have “Imagine,” which is rather somber and on the darker side of the emotional spectrum. It creates a vivid picture of finding power in the imagination. This track enables the listener to escape the harshness of reality and explore a world of dreams and fantasies.

“Worn Out” is the perfect finale to this album. The title refers to the effort and exhaustion that comes with constantly striving for perfection. With mention of making and taking time for oneself, this track captures the emotional rollercoaster of societal expectations. The meaningful lyricism states that perfection is ultimately unattainable and emphasizes the importance of self-acceptance. This final track concludes the message the album is trying to share — the journey of finding oneself and happiness in this imperfect world.
