Album Review: Knocked Loose – You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To

The band brings a mind-dazzling musical vibe.

Hardcore punk band Knocked Loose has been creating musical havoc since 2013 and earlier this month the band released the album You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To. The wonderful thing about the whole record is how each track is filled with face-smacking instrumentation and vocal performances that constantly remind the audience how powerful Knocked Loose is as a band. You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To brings an insight into how passionate the band is with their music.

“Thirst” opens things up with a bang thanks to the incredible vocal performance angrily screaming out the lyrics. While listening, strong shrieking and yelling fills the air with bold and strong emotions that some people can relate to. On “Thirst,” the vocalist is clearly and angrily looking for the light inside the darkness.

“Suffocate” is a vein-jolting piece that features special guest Poppy using her voice to create more insanity. Throughout the whole song, Poppy’s vocals remain loud and smooth while she screams out the lyrics in pure rage. Another great part is hearing Poppy creepily, almost cynically, speak the lyrics in the middle of the tune. Poppy’s presence brings solidarity and chaoticness to “Suffocate.”

“Take Me Home” is a bit different from the previously mentioned tunes, the instrumentation is played on a harmonic musical vibe that blends in with the vocalists’ passionate and bold emotions. The sound of the lead guitar sizzles the air with an energetic sound while the bass guitar shakes the background with dark and deep riffs that enhance the vocalist’s high-pitched yelling on “Take Me Home.”

“Blind Faith” is one of the most soul-shaking compositions on You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To thanks to the killer drum playing creating thunderous beats that match the pace of the musical tempo. The noises coming from the drums rhythm brings an added feeling of madness and insecurity while the vocalist blazes the air with his powerful vocal tones.

You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To is another album from Knocked Loose that shows how hardcore punk and metal can still thrive in today’s music world. This album will most definitely have the fans headbanging along while the music leaves their speakers.
