Album Review: Inter Arma – New Heaven

Record brings soul shattering vibes

Metal band Inter Arma have been raising hell since 2006 and released their hair raising album New Heaven on April 26. All eight tracks are fabulous, the instrumentation smacks the air with heart jolting sound while the vocal performance dazzles the mind with authoritative vocal tones. New Heaven can satisfy the needs of those who want to hear unique soul shaking music blaring from their speakers.

The title track kicks things off with a bang thanks to the dynamic guitar riffs welcoming listeners to Inter Arma’s chaotic world. While listening, the guitar playing brings the feeling of high energy and intense emotions while the vocalist grumbles out the lyrics. “New Heaven” is a captivating composition that has surging guitar playing that will cause some listeners to head bang along to the music.

“Desolation’s Harp” is the band’s latest tune and what really shines on this piece is how the dominant vocal performance brings a sense of insecurity. As a whole, each vocal tone is raspy but powerful, the vocalist growls and shrieks out the words with strong and bold emotions. “Desolation’s Harp” is a death metal jammer that displays how powerful vocalists can be when the music is being performed on the right tempo.

“Gardens In The Dark” is a bit different from the previous track because of how melodic the instrumentation sounds. Right off the bat, the enchanting keyboard playing brings a harmonic vibe before the guitar and drum playing clash into each other to create a mighty musical style that brings nonstop energy on “Gardens In The Dark.” The whole piece shows how much Inter Arma have grown as a band.

“Forest Service Road Blues” ends New Heaven on a sad and tragic note. The sound of the melodic piano and violin playing brings a solid blues musical style that harkens a feeling of despair and hopelessness while the beautiful vocal performance sizzles the air evoking those same emotions. “Forest Service Road Blues” gives an idea of how some people may be struggling in life, feeling like there is no escaping the darkness that constantly lingers in their lives.

Inter Arma are known for their mind blowing music and New Heaven gives an insight of how hungry the band is to create music that resembles multiple forms of metal that has meaningful lyrics that some people can relate to.
