Kings of Leon at The Greek Theatre on August 25

Southern rock royalty, Kings of Leon, have announced a summer and fall world tour in support of their upcoming album, Can We Please Have Fun! The four piece will be making a stop in Berkeley on August 25.

Kings of Leon is the musical project of Caleb, Jared, Nathan, and Matthew Followill. Brothers Caleb, Jared, and Nathan united with cousin Matthew in 1999 in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee where they brought various stylistic influences from their upbringings together to form the band. Caleb is the lead vocalist, Jared is the bassist, Matthew is on lead guitar, and Nathan is the drummer.

Given a once in a lifetime opportunity from RCA Records, the boys put together their debut EP, Holy Roller Novocaine, and released in in February 2003 to critical acclaim. After honing their sound, they would release their debut album, Youth and Young Manhood, that July. While the album was well received, it only managed to make significant ways overseas, not quite making an impact on the US market.

Kings of Leon have been consistently active for the last two decades, achieving critical and commercial success in their home country a few albums in. They’ve released eight going on nine studio albums thus far, with the upcoming, Can We Please Have Fun, set to release on May 10.
