Norwegian singer-songwriter, girl in red, has announced a summer 2024 North American tour in support of her upcoming album, I’m Doing It Again Baby! She will be making a stop in Oakland at The Fox Theater on June 1.

Marie Ulven Ringheim, professionally known as girl in red, was born in 1997 and started releasing music in 2018 through a series of singles and EPs that were self recorded and produced in her bedroom. Singles like “we fell in love in october” and “i wanna be your girlfriend” were instant hits, spread primarily through word of mouth over the internet. The aptly named Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 packaged some of these singles along with a handful of new tracks. Ulven’s early work dealt primarily with mental health and romance. Many of her songs are unabashedly from a gay perspective, making her a beacon for young gay and queer fans.

girl in red spent much of her early career touring these EPs and singles, opening for artists like Clairo and Conan Grey as well as embarking on her own headlining world tour in October 2019. Ulven would go on to release her debut studio album, If I Could Make It Go Quiet, in 2021 to worldwide commercial success. Since then she’s embarked on another headlining tour and additionally opened for Taylor Swift at a number of her shows last year. Now she’s gearing up to release her sophomore LP, I’m Doing It Again Baby!, which is set to release on April 12.
