Nadya Tolokonnikova at Kilowatt on April 19 & 20

Pussy Riot perform their last show of the Riot Days tour on December 8 2023 at Warsaw in New York, NY

Russian activist and creator of feminist art collective, Pussy Riot, Nadya Tolokonnikova, has announced a set of live dates for 2024. She will be making a stop in San Francisco for two nights at Kilowatt on April 19 and 20.

Tolokonnikova has been at the helm of Pussy Riot since founding the collective in 2011. They are most well known for their political art and performance protests usually targeted towards national politics in Russia. The early days of the group saw them staging illegal punk rock gigs in churches, political buildings, and even the olympics. Their music covers topics such as anti-authoritarianism, LGBTQ rights, and feminism. Their sound has become more accessible over the years, ditching the punk rock style of their early days for a more pop oriented one, but their message still stays the same.

Tolokonnikova is notorious for her outward presentation of her politics. She was even jailed in 2012 following and anti-Putin performance protest. She was last in San Francisco for a New Years show at Kilowatt as well. This time she will be headlining the show herself, with support from the New Orleans based act, Boyfriend.
