Young the Giant at The Independent on February 26

Irvine based rock group, Young the Giant have announced a one-night only show at The Independent to celebrate the venue’s 20th anniversary! The band will be playing there on February 26.

Young the Giant formed in 2004 and is comprised of vocalist Sameer Gadhia, guitarist Jacob Tilley, guitarist Eric Cannata, bass guitarist Payam Dootstzadeh, and drummer Francois Comtois. They are best known for singles, “Cough Syrup” and “My Body,” both off of their debut self-titled album. Both tracks have been certified platinum and once charted highly on the Billboard Alternative Charts.

The band first made waves in southern California in the early years of their career under the name “The Jakes,” securing playtime on radio and television. Upon signing with Roadrunner Records in 2009, the group officially changed their name to Young the Giant. Their self-titled era proved successful for the band, landing them spots on the charts, the radio, late night talk shows, and an extensive tour and festival run.

Young the Giant have since released four studio albums and a number of extended plays, each of which producing multiple successful singles for the band. Once the new hot thing in the music world, Young the Giant have become a seasoned band with plenty of experience. Witness them live when play the now historic and intimate Independent on February 26!
