Khruangbin at The Greek Theatre on August 14, 15, and 16

Psychedelic rock trio Khruangbin have announced the A La Sala world tour in support of their upcoming album of the same name. They will be making a stop in Berkeley for two nights at The Greek Theatre on August 14, 15, and 16.

Based in Houston, Texas, Khruangbin formed in 2010 and is comprised of bassist Laura Lee Ochoa, guitarist Mark Speer, and drummer DJ Johnson. They’ve gained notoriety for their wide range of influences, stemming from music around the globe. The group’s 2015 debut album, The Universe Smiles Upon You, takes inspiration from Thai music. In fact, ‘khruangbin’ is the Thai word for ‘airplane’.

The band’s sophomore LP, Con Todo el Mundo, was inspired by Ochoa’s Mexican-American heritage as well as Iranian music. 2020 brought Khruangbin’s third album, Mordechai, yet another stylistic change. Their upcoming full-length project, A la sala, which is Spanish for ‘To the room’ is set to arrive on April 5 via Dead Oceans.

A band that can’t be put in a box, Khruangbin will be playing material from their upcoming album as well as hits from throughout their career on their upcoming tour. Be sure to catch them at any show at The Greek Theatre on August 14, 15, or 16. Tickets are available here
