Black Flag at DNA Lounge on January 5

Foundational punk band, Black Flag, have announced the My War Tour across the US this year. They will be making a stop in San Francisco at DNA Lounge on January 5.

Forming in Hermosa Beach, CA 1976, Black Flag is considered one of the very first hardcore punk-bands and one of the founders of the post hardcore movements. They were first active from 1976 to 1986, again in 2003, again from 2013 to 2014, and finally again since 2019. The band has released a total of seven albums during its lengthy career, beginning with 1981’s, Damaged. 1984 brought the group’s follow-up LP, My War, which is turning 40 years old this year! In celebration of this milestone, Black Flag is embarking on this national tour, splitting each night’s show into two sets, one performing My War in its entirety, and the other performing everything else from their wide discography.

Known for their revolutionary style of music that furthered known hardcore sounds into an experimental direction, Black Flag has built a legacy as one of the most important and groundbreaking punk acts of all time. Even listeners unfamiliar with their music know of their iconic four stripe iconography that has been plastered on t-shirts and posters everywhere. Black Flag is guitarist Greg Ginn, vocalist Mike Vallely, bassist Harley Duggan, and drummer Charlie Wiley.
