Explosions In The Sky at The Warfield on January 30

Texas post-rock band Explosions In The Sky have announced new dates for their The End Tour in support of their most recent album, End. They will be making a stop in San Francisco at The Warfield on January 30.

Forming in Autstin, Texas in 1999, Explosions In The Sky are dummer Chris Hrasky, guitarists/keyboardists Michael James, Munaf Rayani, and Mark Smith, and traveling multi-instrumentalist Jay Demko. The group have released eight studio thus far, including their most recent full-length effort, End, in September. Their musical style is notably instrumental based, with elements of pop mixed into their tracks.

Explosions In The Sky famously wrote the soundtrack for the 2004 film, Friday Night Lights, and had their music heavily featured in the subsequent television show of the same name. Their songs have been used in a number of other television shows and commercials as well.

Known for their emotional live performances and unique method of storytelling within their songs and albums, Explosions In The Sky are sure to not disappoint on this upcoming leg of their tour. The band has quoted End as being inspired by, “the concept of an ending—death, or the end of a friendship or relationship.”
