Sleepytime Gorilla Museum at the UC Theatre on April 6

Oakland based experimental rock band, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, have announced a 2024 reunion tour in support of their upcoming album, of the Last Human Being. The tour concludes with a stop in Berkeley at the UC Theatre on April 6.

Known for their elaborate stage routines and eclectic mix of genres in their music, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum originally formed in 1999 and were active until 2011. Their first performance was given to to a banana slug on June 22, 1999 with their first performance to a human crowd the following night.

The band released their first studio album, Grand Opening and Closing, in 2001. Their follow-up LP, Of Natural History, arrived in 2004, and their third album, In Glorious Time, came out in 2007.

Sleepytime Gorilla Museum uses a variety of homemade instruments on stage including a viking rowboat, a seven foot long bass that uses piano strings, and a popping turtle toy. The band has been noted to perform puppet shows on stage and present pseudo-scientific findings as part of their live shows.

After a relatively quiet thirteen year hiatus, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum are finally back with a brand new album and tour. of the Last Human Being is set to arrive February 1 via AVANT NIGHT.
