Jon Batiste at The Fillmore on February 18

Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Jon Batiste, has announced a tour in support of his new album, World Music Radio, which includes a stop in San Francisco at the Fillmore on February 18.

Batiste is a member of the New Orleans musical dynasty, the Batiste family, who have been active since the 1930s and have produced more than twenty-five talented musicians. Batiste got his start at age 11 as a jazz pianist, playing in his family’s band and honing his skills transcribing songs from video games.

Batiste got his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music from the Julliard School, releasing two albums during his studies and playing in countries all around the world. In 2005, he formed the band, Stay Human, with his Julliard peers, eventually signing on as the house band for The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in 2015. This spot garnered national attention for Batiste and allowed him and Stay Human to play with artists like Billy Joel, Nas, John Legend, and Wynton Marsalis.

Batiste released his fifth studio album, We Are, on March 19, 2021, which won him the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2022. The end of 2022 brought the announcement of Batiste’s departure from The Late Show to pursue personal and professional interests.

Batiste’s most recent album, World Music Radio, released in August of this year and has received four Grammy nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards. The album features contributions from Lana Del Rey, Lil Wayne, NewJeans, JID, and more. It peaked at number 104 on the Billboard 200.
