LCD Soundsystem at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on December 30 & 31

American electronic rock band, LCD Soundsystem, has announced a pair of back to back dates at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco to round out the year on December 30 and 31.

Formed in 2002 by producer and singer-songwriter, James Murphy, the band also consists of keyboardist Nancy Whang, drummer Pat Mahoney, bassist Tyler Pope, guitarist Matt Thornley, guitarist Al Doyle, and multi-instrumentalist Korey Richey.

The band has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, including one win for their song, “Tonite,” in 2018. They are most well known for energetic singles such as, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House” and “Dance Yrself Clean,” which showcase their signature sound that blends synthesizers with rock instrumentation.

LCD Soundsystem released three albums in their first run as band, LCD Soundsystem, in 2005, Sound of Silver, in 2007, and This is Happening, in 2010. Their third album came with the announcement of a break-up, chronicled by a three-hour-long live album from Madison Square Garden in New York entitled, the long goodbye, and a feature length documentary, Shut Up and Play The Hits. The band officially went on hiatus in 2011. They returned in 2015 with their single “Christmas Will Break Your Heart,” and released their most recent album, American Dream, in 2017. Since then, they have been touring consistently and released their first single in five years, “new body rhumba,” for the film, White Noise, earlier this year.
