Today, GRAMMY® Award-winning artist, producer, actor, and director Kid Cudi releases “Ill What I Bleed”, the next single from his ninth full-length studio album, INSANO. Pre-order/Pre-save HERE via Republic Records. It stands out as his first full-length offering since 2022 and one of the most anticipated records of this year.
“I’ll what I bleed” begins with a series of chants that introduce the song. The song starts with themes of strong bonds and freedom. “Here’s the picture, I’m that mister (Hot, hot) // I do what I please, I keep it simple // Keep my circle with the real ones by my side (Hot, hot) // Cannot miss him when he enter rooms (Yeah)”. He then says “Listen, I am a wizard Emma”, a title that he’s held in his musical career (in his side project WZRD and the 2013 track, “King Wizard”).
Kid Cudi drops the title in the chorus. “They all heard of him, the real one that bleeds (Yeah, yeah) // The // pain of the lost (Yeah, yeah), now homie you don’t know // That the man that I am (Yeah), the ill that I bleed (Yeah) // That I am what I bleed (Yeah, yeah, huh). “The ill that I bleed” seems to refer to a literal illness that spreads. Perhaps this is a reference to himself as an influencer. There are references to film that Cudi makes. “Walk through fire, I’m unbreakable, legend, he’s deep (Yeah)… I can’t be phased, I’m in a James Cameron dream (Yeah, yeah)…I’m jumpin’ out the plane as if my name was Tom Cruise, eyy (Yeah, yeah, yaow)”. Apparently “the real one that bleeds” is like an action hero. The song ends with Cudi referring himself as the one that bleeds.
