Live Review + Photos: Run the Jewels Live at the Hollywood Palladium

Run the Jewels performed at the Hollywood Palladium on October 13 as a part of their four night mini-residency at the venue which began on October 11 and came to a close on October 14. The show drew in a large crowd packing the venue. Two giant gold fists hung above the stage, one with the index and middle finger extended. Billows of blunt smoke spewed from different corners. A technical difficulty occurred as the crowd awaited the duo’s return, some walking to the in-house bar to get another drink. In a corner, security made an opening for a an attendee in a wheelchair who had passed out. El-P returned to the stage. El-P dedicated this concert to the fifth wedding anniversary with his partner, sharing with the audience that “this was the exact day [he] got married. Killer Mike proceeded to tell everyone to say “hell yea,” and everyone repeated, “hell yea.” A man dressed in tennis shoes and khaki shorts danced while sporting an N-95 mask. A person dressed in leather pants and a tank top swayed through the crowd, mouthing, “I love them.” A child sat atop shoulders grinning and pumping a fist to “walking in the snow.” Killer Mike commanded the audience to participate and faithfully, hands flung up like a gospel.
