Post-hardcore band Dance Gavin Dance just started their tour, ‘An Evening With Friends,’ to celebrate their recent album release, Jackpot Juicer. Their first tour stop is Fort Lauderdale, FL, at Revolution Live . Dance Gavin Dance was formed in Sacramento, California, in 2005 from the ashes of two other bands, Farewell Unknown and Left Apart. Dance Gavin Dance name actually comes from band member Johnny Craig Turtle. Craig thought his turtle swimming looked like he was dancing.
This band has been through many lineups throughout the 18 years they have been together, which mostly have been vocalists on tour and record. But the most consistent members of the band have been lead guitarist Will Swan and drummer Matt Mingus, who have been there since the beginning. Dance Gavin Dance mixes up different genres in their music, from math rock, funk, and soul. Dance Gavin Dance has made eight albums, and their albums have been critically acclaimed. Their latest album, Jackpot Juicer, debuted at number one on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart. They also earned their first Billboard 200 Top 10.
