Album Review: Noveria – The Gates Of The Underworld

Album brings insane musical buzz

Italian progressive metal band Noveria are known for their mind-bending music and released their fourth full-length record, The Gates Of The Underworld, on August 25. Each song features sizzling instrumentation that fills the air with face-smacking sound while the vocal performance serenades the ears with powerful tones. The Gates Of The Underworld shows how much Noveria have grown musically as a band.

The short tune “Heritage” kicks things off with a bang by how the music brings a solid vibe of powerful and bold vocal tones that blend in with the heaviness of symphonics. “Heritage” welcomes listeners to Noveria’s crazy world.

“Descent” is another energetic composition that features incredible drum playing from Davide Calabretta and bass playing from Andrea Arcangeli. Right off the jump, wicked drum beats can be heard shaking the background with great authority while the bass guitar spices things up with killer riffs. Calabretta and Arcangeli do a great job of using their talents to create more havoc on “Descent.”

“Revenant” is a lovely tune that shows Noveria’s musicianship through soul-shaking noise. Despite the fact the band does not push through the composition with forceful rage, the instrumentation and vocals do bring melodic riffs and hooks on “Revenant.”

“Ascent” is a righteous track that features a thrilling vocal performance from Francesco Corigliano. As a whole, the vocalist does a great job of belting out shattering tones that are filled with deep passion. “Ascent” demonstrates just how talented Corigliano is as a singer.

The Gates Of The Underworld is a great record because Noveria shows how much they care about their music.
