Mt. Joy @ Fox Theatre on August 26th and 27th, 2023

Mt. Joy, the indie rock band based out of Los Angeles, will be coming to play two nights at The Fox Theatre in Oakland on August 26th and 27th, 2023.

Composed of Matt Quinn, Sam Cooper, Soitris Eliopoulos, Jackie Miclau, and Michael Byrnes, the band kicked off their career in 2016. Their first album, Mt. Joy, came out in the spring of 2018. That album led to them touring around North America and Europe. While opening for The Lumineers on a tour, Covid-19 lockdowns took place, and the band ended up putting out their second album, Rearrange Us on June 5th, 2020.

Quinn and Cooper were the first two members of the band to start making music together. They had met at high school in Philadelphia, but it was in Los Angeles that they began to work on music with each other. They met the band’s bassist, Michael Byrnes, on Craigslist. After finding success with their early singles, Quinn, Cooper, and Byrnes added Eliopoulos and Miclau to the group and they eventually signed to Dualtone Records.

Coming out of lockdown restrictions, the band released their third album, Orange Blood, in June 2022. After a headlining tour last Summer and Fall, the group is back on the road this August, playing shows across the US. The two nights in San Francisco will be their last shows of the August portion of their tour (they are then playing two more shows 9/14 and 9/15 in South Carolina and Virginia, respectively). They’ll be playing at a beautiful level after three weeks on the road, and will likely be psyched to have two nights to play in San Francisco, followed by a bit of a break. It should be a wonderful night of music.
