The Bittersweet Daze tour is coming to Chicago on July 29. The tour, featuring Cavetown, mxtoon, Ricky Montgomery and grentperez is wrapping up its US leg this summer, and will be hitting The Salt Shed on Saturday.
The quartet of beloved singer songwriters hit the road for their tour earlier this summer. Rising up from YouTube and TikTok, all four of them are noted for their soft indie, bedroom pop sounds popular among the wide Gen-Z audience. The artists have all collaborated before in various groupings, most recently the single “Nobody Loves Me” by mxtoon, Cavetown and Ricky Montgomery.
Robin Skinner, aka Cavetown, rose to prominence on YouTube in 2012 where he posted covers and original music. He wrote his first album at 14, releasing it on Bandcamp before recording his first studio album, Cavetown, three years later. His fifth studio album, Worm Food, came out this past November with thirteen new tracks to positive reviews from critics.
Similarly to Cavetown, mxtoon got her start on social media, beginning her YouTube channel in 2017 and going viral for her song “Prom Dress” on TikTok shortly after. She has opened for and collaborated with Cavetown on many occasions, sharing his warm, gentle indie-folk sound.
Joining Cavetown and mxtoon on the Bittersweet Daze tour are Ricky Montgomery and Grentperez. Montgomery found similar success to Cavetown and mxtoon on TikTok in 2020 when his 2016 songs “Mr. Loverman” and “Line Without A Hook” went viral, launching him back into his musical career. Grentperez is a longtime YouTuber who just released his fourth EP, When We Were Younger, in June.
Fans have been turning out in droves to attend the Bittersweet Daze tour. Four amazing artists and energtic, excited crowds make for a tour that will not soon be forgotten. You can see Cavetown, mxtoon, Ricky Montgomery, and Grentperez at The Salt Shed on July 29. Tickets are available here.
