Peach Pit at the Vic Theatre on August 3

Indie-pop band Peach Pit is heading out on a festival tour this summer following the release of their 2022 album, From 2 to 3. They will be making an appearance in Chicago just in time for Lollapalooza, which they will be playing at on Friday, August 4. They will also be doing an official Lollapalooza Aftershow at the Vic Theater on August 3.

Hailing from Vancouver, Peach Pit began when musicians Neil Smith and Chris Vanderkooy began collaborating in 2014. The two met in high school, and eventually brought on Mikey Pascuzzi on drums and Peter Wilton on bass to complete the Peach Pit line up. Their first album, Being So Normal, was released in 2017 to wild success. To focus on the music, all members quit their day jobs as Amazon drivers, carpenters, and waiters to begin touring.

Peach Pit self describes their musical style as “chewed bubblegum pop.” This perfectly encapsulates their sound– indie pop roots with soulful and powerful vocals to enhance the sound. The band’s latest project, From 2 to 3, solidified their style and place in the indie rock scene. The cohesive sound allowed Peach Pit to delve into their lyrics and storytelling.

Lollapalooza is not Peach Pit’s first appearance at a major music festival– the band has performed at South By Southwest, Osheaga, Bonnaroo, CBC Music Festival and Capitol Hill Block Party to name a few. They have also done tours across North America, Asia, and Europe. For Peach Pit, playing live shows and hearing their songs sung back to them has always been their favorite parts of the experience.
