Album Review: Stella Rose – Eyes of Glass

An Impressive Beginning

New York-based musician Stella Rose recently released her debut album, Eyes of Glass. While she may be the daughter of Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan, she is making a name for herself and her unique rock-‘n’-roll style as a singer-songwriter. From her impressive lyricism to her captivating vocals, she will surely have a successful career and this album is just the beginning.

“Maid” is the first track, and it begins her debut in a haunting yet captivating style. Gentle guitar and piano lay out the background as deep vocals echo over them. This song will surely pull listeners into her album through its eerie melodies and intricate artistry.

The next song, “Faithful,” takes a complete turn away from the previous track. With a more rock’n’roll vibe, distorted guitars and heavy percussion kick off the song. Once the chorus arrives, the eerie and gentle vocals are replaced with a louder, more shout-singing style. While this track is a very different style than the previous track, it keeps the haunting feeling with the dark and distorted sounds that make up this track.

The fourth track, “Muddled Man,” is one of the most popular singles on the album. It continues the upbeat rock style with intense percussion and forceful vocals. The sound is distorted, loud and spooky, but it keeps the listeners on their toes and tells a story.

The sixth track, “Jane,” falls back into the more low-key and gentle style than the hard rock that preceded it. With a gentle jazzy swing and light vocals, she shows off her storytelling capabilities and versatility as a vocalist on this track. It is a gentle and relaxing track that is nothing short of beautiful, from the melodies and accompaniment to the lyrics.

The final track, “Angel,” is another captivating track, from the impressive vocals that shine over the gentle instrumentation to the poetic lyrics. This song allows her to show off every angle of her artistry, and it is clear why this track has been so popular. Overall, Stella Rose’s debut album Eyes of Glass is an impressive beginning to a successful career in the music industry.
