Jinjer’s Tatiana Shmayluk Reflects on Seven Months of Sobriety

Tatiana Shmayluk of the Ukrainian metal band Jinjer has recently posted a health update on social media. She is currently celebrating seven months of sobriety.

In one of her most recent posts on her Instagram, Shmayluk showcases mirror selfie with the caption reading “#7monthssober today. Let’s see how far I can get.” As Loudwire put it, she doesn’t say much in this post, but it is a worthy achievement and cause for celebration nonetheless. They also commented on how she’s decided to go sober earlier in her career than most others in theirs.

According to Blabbermouth, Shmayluk spoke with “Wired in the Empire”’s Radioactive MikeZ on how she met her husband Alex Lopez of Payable on Death last December. She said that she and him communicated over the internet while he was still on Suicide Silence, and the latter eventually came to see her band when they performed in the U.S. “He came to our show to say hi and stuff. And then here and there, that’s how it happened. So I think I made it happen.”

Jinjer resumed playing live shows in June, 2022 following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, since they had then been given permission from Ukrainian authorities to leave the country and serve as ambassadors to their nation (Via Blabbermouth). Now, Jinjer will soon join Disturbed on their “Take Back Your Life” as special guests with Breaking Benjamin. The tour begins on July 18th in Wheatland, California at the Toyota Amphitheatre. This tour precedes their own headliner following shortly after Disturbed’s final tour performance.  Tickets can be found here.
