Album Review: Behold! The Monolith – From The Fathomless Deep

Fiery, soul-shaking metal

Behold! The Monolith, have been raising musical hell for awhile now and last year the band released their album From The Fathomless Deep. Each track is filled with soul shaking guitar and drum playing which fills the atmosphere with face smacking sound while the powerful vocal performances dazzles the mind with ear bleeding vocal tones. Behold! The Monolith create their own musical havoc on  From The Fathomless Deep.

Dooming “Psychlopean Dread” is a composition which has killer guitars playing from Menno Verbaten and Matt Price. While listening, the noises of a heavy lead guitar playing sizzles the atmosphere with hard hitting riffs while the bass guitar can be heard shaking the background with deep riffs. Verbaten’s and Price’s skills as guitarists shine on “Psychlopean Dread.”

“This Wailing Blade” is a righteous track thanks to the band’s skillful mix of rock and metal which makes for a catchy composition. The instrumentation evokes a sense of classic rock and metal with each guitar riff and solo bringing a solid vibe reminiscent of AC/DC and Black Sabbath. The vocal performance is also equally powerful thanks to Verbaten’s lower register grumbling out the lyrics.

“The Seams of Pangaea” is a mystical piece thanks to Behold! The Monolith’s incorporation of elements of blues music within metal. Throughout the entirety of the track, a bluesy musical vibe can be heard through the smooth guitar and drum playing. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the album is hearing the band’s transition from playing softer tones to pure head-banging enjoyment.

From The Fathomless Deep is an album that shows how talented Behold! The Monolith are as a band. The skillful instrumentation and powerfully dynamic vocals on this record are only a few examples of how passionate the band is about creating mind jolting music.
