Drake at the United Center on July 5 and 6

Hip-hop star Drake is kicking off his “It’s All A Blur” Tour in Chicago with two shows at the United Center on July 5 and 6. Joining him will be 21 Savage, promoting their collaborative album, Her Loss.

Born in Toronto, Drake was interested in performing from a young age. He got his start playing Jimmy Brooks on the teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation, but soon pivoted to focusing on music. The rapper released his first three mixtapes on his own record label October’s Very Own, which is now owned and operated by Universal Records. The mixtapes were mega successful, sparking bidding wars between record labels and allowing him to release his debut album, Thank Me Later, in 2010.

Drake has now released seven studio albums over the span of thirteen years, cementing his status as one of the biggest voices in hip hop of the recent era. The artist is largely credited with the uptick in singing and R&B in pop music, and pulls influences from pop, trap, and dancehall styles.

This tour doesn’t mark the first time 21 Savage and Drake have worked together. The duo have worked on tracks together since 2016, and their collaborative album was announced in a music video visual, in true easter-egg style. Critics praised the album for its levity, as well as the artists’ ability to deal with multifaceted subject matter.
