The rock band Eels will be performing at Webster Hall on June 27th.
Formed in 1991 in Los Angeles, Eels was started by Mark Oliver Everrett who goes by the stage name ‘E’.
While the other members of Eels has changed over the years, on stage and in studio recording, E has been the one constant in the bands 30+ years of existence.
E started by releasing A Man Called E as his debut “solo” album in 1992. After another “solo” album the next year, E rebranded and was joined by his first band member Tommy Walters. Together they released the first Eels album, Beautiful Freak, in 1996.
In the 30 years since the start, Eels has released a total of 14 studio albums, various of which have charted on the Billboard top 200.
Eels is known for their music having strong thematic throughlines of family, death, love and more. Their sound has strong influences of classic rock with elements of indie music playing in it as well.
E has been the constant in Eels over the years, through many ups and downs and changes to other members of the band.
Now in 2023, Eels is on tour on the back of their 2022 album Extreme Witchcraft. The tour kicked off in Europe, with dates across the continent for March and April. The US leg kicked off on June 8th in California, and will include 17 cities until the end of July.
The New York date will take place at the iconic Webster Hall. The venue is GA.
