You won’t see his face but you’ll certainly hear his voice. Orville Peck will be performing at The Theater at MSG on June 20th.
The South African born, Canadian residing country singer is on tour, with the summer section kicking off in New York City. The show will take place at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, an offshoot of the iconic venue that will allow for a more intimate setting for the concert while still allowing for all of the glamor and celebration of performing at MSG.
If there’s one thing that Peck does, it’s glamor and celebration. The singer is most famous for his elaborate masks, often with gorgeous tassels attached, that he wears to maintain anonymity. The mask is not a distraction from the art, rather it allows Peck to truly perform his music in a holistic sense, to allow focus to be on the sounds coming from his voice and from his performance.
It’s a new look for country music, one that is ever evolving from wrangler jeans and heteronormativity. Peck is on the front of a new wave of country music, a more inclusive one, a more queer one, a more creative one and frankly a more fun one.
Peck started his professional musical career in 2019 with the release of his album Pony after he attended music school in London and performed on the West End. Pony received both commercial success and critical acclaim, nominated as one of the best albums of the year by various critical organizations.
After continuing to make music and growing his stardom, Peck is back with his second album, Bronco, with which he has gone on tour. The album has peaked as high as third on select charts and is continuing to grow.
