Calling her is a maybe but seeing her in concert is definite. Rain or shine, Carly Rae Jepsen will be performing at the Pier 17 rooftop on August 7th and August 8th.

The Canadian singer-songwriter is coming off her new album, The Loneliest Time, released in October of 2022 and is soon heading on tour. She’ll be starting in England at the end of June followed by 6 dates in Japan before she heads to the USA and Canada. New York is the antepenultimate stop for Rae Jepsen. After two nights of performances in NYC she jets off to Los Angeles for two shows before closing her tour in Washington DC at the end of September.

Though you might know the singer most for one song, Carly Rae Jepsen has a long history as a musician and performer. Before releasing music widely, Rae Jepsen competed in Canadian Idol’s fifth season in 2007 where she placed third. Following her success on the show, she released her first studio album Tug of War in 2008, though it wasn’t until 2011 that the record was sold outside of Canada.

In 2012, you probably heard of Carly Rae Jepsen for the first time. Her single “Call Me Maybe” and accompanying music video became viral sensations. The song was the best selling single of the year, with over 18 million buys, peaking at number one in over 19 countries. All to say, “Call Me Maybe” is one of the biggest singles ever released, coinciding with the popularity of music videos on Youtube. This song was everywhere in 2012.

Since 2012, Rae Jepsen has not slowed down. Her second album, Kiss, released on the heels of her success, had two singles chart on the top ten in the USA and Canada. She then continued making music while performing as the titular character on Broadway’s Cinderella. She released two more albums and continued various performances.

Now, after the release of The Loneliest Time, Carly Rae Jepsen will be gracing the fun and unique Pier 17 rooftop for not one, but two nights. She will be joined by opener Poolside. The open air performance space located on South Street Seaport at the southernmost tip of Manhattan offers more than warm summer nights, it has spectacular views of the water and of the New York skyline.
