Prepared to be rocked, punk band Protomartyr is going to be in New York City for two nights, June 15th and June 16th, at Bowery Ballroom.
The band, made up of Joe Casey as lead vocalist, Greg Ahee on guitar, drummer Alex Leonard, Scott Davidson playing bass and Kelley Deal who joined in 2020 on keys, guitar and backup vocals, first formed in 2010 in Detroit, Michigan.
Since then, the band has released 6 albums, starting with their debut, No Passion All Technique in 2012. They began to gain popularity quickly, reaching new heights with the release of their third studio album, The Agent Intellect, in 2015. This album was widely acclaimed by audiences and especially by critics, featuring on many “best of 2015” lists including Rolling Stone Magazine. With the success of their album, Protomartyr cemented themselves as a popular punk-rock group of the 2010s.
Moving into the new decade, the band planned on releasing their fifth album but had to delay it slightly due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Not to be deterred for long, Ultimate Success Today was released in July of 2020.
Now, less than 3 full years after the release of that album, Protomartyr is at it again, releasing their sixth album Formal Growth in the Desert on June 2nd of 2023. Without much delay, the band is off on tour, starting in Toronto, Canada tomorrow, June 13th.
After Montreal on the 14th, the band is headed south and coming to New York for two dates at Bowery Ballroom. After NYC they’ll continue their US tour before crossing the Atlantic and touring in Europe as well.
Expectations are high, and as a result the June 16th show is already sold out on retail. Tickets are still available for June 15th however, and the 16th has resale tickets to be purchased as well.
