Brooklyn based record label Paper Moon Records will be presenting Strawberry Moon, a showcase of 4 artists, at the TV Eye ballroom on June 14th.
The lineup of Talk Bazaar, Elora, Moon Hound, and AUDG are all singer-songwriters and artists signed to the Paper Moon Record label, and have released music through the label in the last few years.
Strawberry Moon will be the next in an installment of showcases, or sessions, where Paper Moon artists perform their songs, oftentimes live recorded. While Talk Bazaar, Elora, and Moon Hound have already performed sessions with Paper Moon in the past, this will be the first for AUDG.
AUDG is a Brooklyn based singer-songwriter originally from Massachusetts who came to New York for college and, as they put it, after a tumultuous relationship with posting covers on Instagram has signed to Paper Moon Records to begin putting out their own music drawing from inspirations such as Bon Iver, Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, Soccer Mommy, and more.
Moon Hound is a Ridgewood based, self described baroque rock band whose sound is a modge-podge of various time periods in alt-rock history. They drew inspiration from artists such as Big Thief, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Modest House, as they created their debut EP, Crescent in 2021. Their second EP Wait For Nothing was released in 2022.
Elora, a singer and guitar player, has collaborated with producer Theo Walentiny since the two were stuck together during Covid-19 lockdown in 2020. Together they have produced trance-inducing songs including two singles, “Gullible” in 2022 and “Embers” released in 2023. The duo has performed all across New York City, with the support of Paper Moon Records, and will once again be showcasing their talents at Strawberry Moon.
The headliner for the event, Talk Bazaar (Alex DeSimine), is a singer-songwriter who often describes his own songs as “soupy” for the psychedelic, entrancing sounds and looped guitar riffs. Often performing alone with a guitar, a synth, and looper pedals, Talk Bazaar creates an immersive experience for his audience. At this performance, however, a full band accompaniment will only enhance the audience experience for his songs, including songs from the 2022 album spotless and 2023 album food feed fed.
Strawberry Moon is a wonderful opportunity to discover your new favorite artist, to support a local record label, and Brooklyn based indie music.
