Nashville-based alt-rock, singer and songwriter BabyJake made his debut in 2019 with the single “Cigarettes On Patios” and won the hearts of many with his raspy voice singing about being vulnerable, having emotions and evocative sounds that grabs listeners intrigued to know more about this artist. In 2021 BabyJake released debut album Don’t Give Me Problems, Give Me Wine which set the stepping stone for where he is today.

Exclusively premiering with mxdwn Music BabyJake shares a new single “Cry Cry Cry” which gives listeners what seems to be a gentle ballad that suddenly explodes into this powerful hook that has super catchy guitar riffs that just won’t stop.

According to BabyJake “Cry Cry Cry,” a semi-autobiographical piece rife with emotion, is a vulnerably introspective ballad-number in which Jake bares all with inspiration from dynamic vocalist Joe Cocker.

BabyJake breaks down the song “Cry Cry Cry”:

“My favorite lyric from the song is “I’ve got lines running down, snowfall in the rain” cause I’m talking about crying while sniffing Cocaine & to me that was a cool way to state that line without stating it. It was poetic like some Bob Dylan shit. I like Bob Dylan, I hope he would like me as well. I drew inspiration from Joe Cocker from the production & melodic standpoint. As far as lyrics go I always go straight from the dome, I don’t try to pull lyrics from other things just whatever my mind wants to spurt out that day. I had the song for a while. Sat in my iPhone memos for 6 months or so (a-typical of me I usually strike when the iron is hot) but then I kept playing the riff & falling in love with it & finally the lyrics & melody came.”
