Modern rock with a hint of the ‘90s
Music has come full circle with hard rockers A-Z, their sound reminiscent of just about every enrapturing ‘90s band out there. Their self-titled album, A-Z, boasts powerful guitar riffs and hints of Van Halen, the music remains energetic and entertaining throughout the entire album. Although considered heavy metal, each track is melodious and features an interesting range of instrumentals.
“Trial by Fire” boasts unstoppable guitar solos that alone could catapult the track to international stardom. But the guitar isn’t the only thing that grabs listeners’ attention. Powerful vocals complete with an impressive range are perfectly in sync with the accompanying instrumentals.
As the album progresses, A-Z flexes its muscles even more, enmeshing piano with heavy rock. Although the music summons sounds from the ‘90s, there’s nothing unoriginal about A-Z. Their sound offers the same type of full, melodic quality that boasts a nostalgic feel, but the music itself is completely reimagined and inventive. The entire album is a collection of heart and unparalleled, raw talent.
“Window Panes” is another example of uninhibited guitar riffs and flawlessly executed instrumentals. Every song features a new and exciting melody that’s inventive and engrossing. The vocals are rife with emotion, unbridled talent shining through in every lyric. It goes without saying that A-Z demands excessive use of the “repeat” button, and then some.
As the album winds down, its tracks refuse to quit. “Sometimes” is fast-paced and provides listeners with yet another artfully crafted masterpiece. The best albums offer listeners a bonus track and A-Z doesn’t disappoint. “The Silence Broken” yet again features delightful guitar solos that are, for lack of a better phrase, awe-inspiring. This isn’t to say the rest of the instrumentals aren’t equally addicting. The entire album is perfectly executed and fans of ‘90s rock will be pleased to discover A-Z and their multifaceted talent.
