Gwarsenio Hall hosts a karaoke night at Thalia Hall on April 30th! The karaoke night is going to feature nu metal songs as well as late 90s/early 00s bangers. It is part of a three day event called the Perpetual Flame. A description for the event describes that it is a multi-disciplinary arts fair. The event will include a farewell performances of Lingua Ignota as the singer born as Kristin Hayter will move onto other projects. There will also be performances by Moor Mother, HUDE, Midwife, Planning for Burial, Thou and Vile Creature. A fashion presentation by Ashley Rose Couture is scheduled as well as a curation of student work by Mark Booth of SAIC.
Gwarsenio Hall, also known as Jordan Olds, is a comedian and commentator most known for his podcast and channel Two Minutes to Late Night. The talk show is co hosted by Kevin The Sound Guy, or Drew Kaufman. The podcast spanned from July 2018 to October 2020, while the Youtube Channel continues to release covers, interviews, and reviews.
Two Minutes to Late Night features the characters Gwarsenio and Kevin. Gwarsenio is seen in a signature white and black face makeup. The episodes are a mix of recorded sketches as well as live performances of metal music and interviews. The format of a late night show normalizes metal music. It is like Jimmy Fallon doing his talk show, but instead of Ariana Grande it is metal superstars. As seriously as it takes metal music, it also profits off of making fun of it. The show plays off archetypes that make metal music relatable to those outside of the scene, while also incorporating actual metal music to educate new listeners.
