mxdwn PREMIERE: Secret Machines Shares Edgy New Track “I Think It’s Light Outside”

Dallas-based progressive rock band Secret Machines led by Brandon Curtis (vocals, keys, bass), Josh Garza (drums) and Phil Karnats (guitar) are finally about to release their highly-anticipated fourth album The Moth, The Lizard, and the Secret Machines and to celebrate they are releasing a new experimental and edgy track “I Think It’s Light Outside” off the new album.

Exclusively premiering with mxdwn Music “I Thinks It’s Light Outside” is edgy, freeing new experimental sound that feels completely unexpected from Secret Machines but in an absolutely wonderful way. Secret Machines might have just found their new sound that could take the band to new heights. With its spacey-rock sound and raw, fast drumming with entrancing guitar riffs makes for quite the well-oiled Secret Machines.

Garza and Curtis break down the song “I Thinks It’s Light Outside” and its creation:

“At times it feels like it’s two or three different ideas playing at the same time to form one song. The concept of improvisation, experimentation and song being fused together with Brandon’s lyrics and vocals keeping the song from flying off the edge,” said Garza.

Curtis adds:

“Finally getting to share these songs after so many incarnations, after all this time, after so much has happened, has been a wonderful experience. Listening through has been like connecting to a memory that had begun to recede. I think the improvisational nature of the process and the rawness of the performances allow all this feeling and emotion to bubble up through the wash of sounds and pulses. We are extremely proud of the work that went into making this album and are excited to present this track as another preview of the album.”
